Course Description
This five-day course features intensive hands-on training that focuses on installing, configuring, and managing VMware vSphere 8, which includes VMware ESXi 8 and VMware vCenter 8. This course prepares you to administer a vSphere infrastructure for an organization of any size. It is the foundation for most VMware technologies in the software-defined data center, and attendance meets the training requirement to achieve the VMware Certified Professional - Data Center Virtualization (VCP-DCV) certification.

- Course introduction, objectives, and logistics.
- vSphere and virtualization overview: virtualization concepts, the software-defined data center, vSphere user interfaces, and how vSphere interacts with CPUs, memory, networks, storage, and GPUs.
- Installing and configuring ESXi hosts, including user account best practices and host settings via the DCUI and VMware Host Client.
- Deploying and configuring vCenter Server Appliance: inventory objects, license keys, permissions, and logs and events.
- Configuring vSphere networking with standard switches and distributed switches, and setting networking policies.
- Configuring vSphere storage: Fibre Channel, iSCSI, VMFS datastores, and NFS datastores.
- Deploying virtual machines: provisioning, VMware Tools, templates, clones, and guest OS customization specifications.
- Managing virtual machines: vSphere vMotion and Storage vMotion migrations, Enhanced vMotion Compatibility, snapshots, and CPU and memory shares, reservations, and limits.
