Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to the most common questions about IT Dojo's training programs, who we serve, how training works, and what makes us different.
What is IT Dojo?
IT Dojo is a Virginia Beach-based IT training company founded in 2003. We specialize in live, instructor-led IT certification and cybersecurity training for federal government agencies, Department of Defense (DoD) personnel, military branches, and government contractors. All training is employer-sponsored — meaning your organization registers and pays for seats on behalf of its employees. IT Dojo does not enroll individual self-paying students.
What courses does IT Dojo offer?
IT Dojo offers training across a wide range of IT domains, including: Risk Management Framework (RMF), CISSP, CompTIA Security+, CompTIA CASP+, CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker), CISM, Cisco networking (CCNA, CCNP, and more), Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure and M365, Zero Trust security, DoD 8570/8140 compliance training, eMASS, STIG hardening, Continuous Monitoring (ISCM), DevOps, Linux, Python, Electronic Warfare, and many others. If you don't see a course you need, contact us — we can source almost any IT training.
Who does IT Dojo work with?
IT Dojo works exclusively with federal government agencies (civilian and defense), military branches, DoD commands, state and local government organizations, and the contractors that support them. We also work with corporate clients. We do not train individuals — all training must be sponsored by an employer or organization.
Does IT Dojo offer DoD 8570 and DoD 8140 compliant training?
Yes. IT Dojo offers training for most of the certifications approved under DoD Directive 8570.01-M (DoD 8570) and the updated DoD 8140 framework, including CompTIA Security+, CISSP, CEH, CISM, CompTIA CASP+, and others. These certifications are required baseline credentials for DoD personnel in Information Assurance Technical (IAT), Information Assurance Management (IAM), and Cyber Security Service Provider (CSSP) roles. Contact IT Dojo if you need guidance on which certification applies to your position.
What is the difference between live remote online training and self-paced e-learning?
IT Dojo only offers live, instructor-led training — never self-paced or pre-recorded courses. In live remote online training, students connect to a real-time class via video conference and interact directly with the instructor and other students. The instructor can answer questions, adjust the pace, and provide hands-on guidance just as in an in-person class. Self-paced e-learning, by contrast, is pre-recorded and offers no live instructor interaction. IT Dojo's remote classes are capped at 16 students to ensure each participant gets meaningful attention.
Can IT Dojo come to our facility?
Yes. IT Dojo offers on-site training at your facility anywhere in the United States. We bring the instructor — and for technical courses, the necessary equipment — directly to your location. On-site delivery is popular for organizations that want to train larger groups, maintain security requirements, or integrate training into a specific operational environment.
Where is IT Dojo located?
IT Dojo is located at 4176 South Plaza Trail, Suite 207, Virginia Beach, VA 23452. We are near all major military installations in Hampton Roads — within 30–45 minutes of Norfolk, Chesapeake, Hampton, Newport News, Portsmouth, and Williamsburg. We also serve clients nationally via live remote online training and on-site delivery.
How long has IT Dojo been in business?
IT Dojo was founded in 2003 and has been delivering IT certification and cybersecurity training to government and military professionals for over 20 years. We have supported scores of federal agencies, DoD commands, military branches, and government contractors throughout that time.
What makes IT Dojo different from other IT training providers?
Several things set IT Dojo apart. First, we work exclusively with government and DoD clients — our courses, certifications, and scheduling are designed with federal and military professionals in mind, not general consumers. Second, all of our training is live and instructor-led — we never use pre-recorded video content as a substitute for live instruction. Third, we keep class sizes small (typically 16 students or fewer) so every participant gets individual attention. Fourth, for technical courses, we invest in real, hands-on lab equipment rather than simulations. And fifth, our instructors are active industry practitioners, not career educators — they bring real-world experience directly into the classroom.
Does IT Dojo offer training for civilian federal employees, not just military?
Yes. IT Dojo trains personnel across the full spectrum of federal organizations — military branches, DoD civilian employees, intelligence community organizations, and civilian federal agencies (such as DHS, DOJ, VA, and others). We also train the contractors that support these organizations.
How do I register for IT Dojo training?
Because all IT Dojo training is employer-sponsored, registration typically starts with your organization's training coordinator or contracting officer. To get started, contact IT Dojo directly at 757-216-3656 or info@itdojo.com, or submit an inquiry through our website. We'll provide pricing, available dates, and delivery options for your team.
Does IT Dojo offer private group training?
Yes. IT Dojo can deliver private, dedicated training sessions for your organization — either at our Virginia Beach facility, at your site, or as a live remote session. Private training allows you to customize the schedule, tailor the content to your specific environment, and train your entire team together. Contact us to discuss options and pricing.
What is RMF training and who needs it?
The Risk Management Framework (RMF) is the DoD and federal government's required process for managing cybersecurity risk to information systems. RMF training is essential for ISSOs, ISSMs, system owners, security control assessors, authorizing officials, and any IT professional involved in achieving or maintaining an Authorization to Operate (ATO). IT Dojo offers a full suite of RMF courses covering every step of the authorization lifecycle.
Does IT Dojo have a DUNS or CAGE code for government contracting?
Yes. IT Dojo's DUNS number is 128249492 and our CAGE code is 3DTV8. These are provided for government procurement purposes.
