ITdojo: What does it mean?

What Were They Thinking?

We get a lot of questions about the meaning of ITdojo (pronounced EYE TEE DOE JOE) and we admit it’s not surprising. Our name is unconventional…but then again so are we.

To break it down let’s start with the IT portion. IT, as you may have guessed, stands for Information Technology. You know, that stuff that gets our juices flowing…all things technological…all things cool. We have a passion for information technology and spreading its gospel to all who are interested in learning about it.

Next up is Dojo. It’s a Japanese word that means a place of learning…or the place of the way. Think Mr. Miyagi from The Karate Kid (“Wax on – Wax off”…you get the picture). His dojo is where he taught Daniel-san all of those incredible martial arts skills. Side note: You wouldn’t believe the number of invitations we get in the mail to martial arts tournaments because of our name.

Now to bring it all together, ITdojo is a place to learn the ways of all things Information Technology (with an emphasis on networking, security, and information assurance). We are the Mr. Miyagi to your Daniel-san.
